Use the [Alt] key on your keyboard. (1) Hold down the [Alt] key and on the numeric keypad press the digits 0, 1, 6 and 7 in that order, then release the [Alt] key. (2) Hold down the [Alt] key and on the numeric keypad press the digits 2 and 1 in that order, then release the [Alt] key.

Creating the Section Symbol () in Word Documents Click on the menu option Insert. On the drop-down menu, click on the menu option Symbol. On the Symbol screen that displays, click on the Special Characters tab. Click on the section symbol () in the list of symbols that displays, then click on Insert and Close.
Go to Insert Symbol More Symbols. Scroll up or down the list to find the symbol you want.
The section sign () is a typographical character for referencing individually numbered sections of a document; it is frequently used when citing sections of a legal code. It is also known as the section symbol, section mark, double-s, or silcrow.
If you have a numeric keypad you get the double S symbol (Section sign or silcrow) by holding down the Alt key and typing 0182 on the numeric keypad. Alternatively, in Windows, hit Insert Special Character and select the silcrow. Similarly you could select the Paragraph sign or pilcrow, or type Alt 0167.
There are two ways to add a section symbol () in a Word document: Using the keyboard: Place the cursor where you want the section symbol. Press and hold down the Alt key on your keyboard. While holding down the Alt key, type in the numbers 0167.
