Use readlines() to Read the range of line from the File The readlines() method reads all lines from a file and stores it in a list. You can use an index number as a line number to extract a set of lines from it. This is the most straightforward way to read a specific line from a file in Python.
Example 1: Converting a text file into a list by splitting the text on the occurrence of . . We open the file in reading mode, then read all the text using the read() and store it into a variable called data. after that we replace the end of the line(/n) with and split the text further when .
Append and Read (a+): Using this method, you can read and write in the file. If the file doesnt already exist, one gets created. The handle is set at the end of the file. The newly written text will be added at the end, following the previously written data.
How To add Elements to a List in Python append() : append the element to the end of the list. insert() : inserts the element before the given index. extend() : extends the list by appending elements from the iterable. List Concatenation: We can use the + operator to concatenate multiple lists and create a new list.
Another way to convert a string to a list is by using the split() Python method. The split() method splits a string into a list, where each list item is each word that makes up the string. Each word will be an individual list item.
Python String split() Method The split() method splits a string into a list. You can specify the separator, default separator is any whitespace. Note: When maxsplit is specified, the list will contain the specified number of elements plus one.
If you want to read all the lines at once, use readline(). Note The readline() method, in contrast to its equivalent, only extracts one line from a file. A trailing newline character will also be added to the end of the string by the realine() method.
Steps Open a . txt file function in w mode (here w signifies write). The open() function shows the file path. Create a list of items. The writelines() function takes the list of items as its parameter and writes them in the text file. Close the file using the close() function.
Insert a document in Word Click or tap where you want to insert the content of the existing document. Go to Insert and select the arrow next to Object . Select Text from File. Locate the file that you want and then double-click it. To add in the contents of additional Word documents, repeat the above steps as needed.
Open file in append mode and write to it Open the file in append a mode, and write to it using write() method. Inside write() method, a string new text is passed. This text is seen on the file as shown above. If you want to learn more about different types of file opening modes, please refer to Python file I/O.
