whats up guys welcome back to pipe de Graaff labs tonight Im gonna show you how to write and run your first salt state before we do that theyll take care of a couple housekeeping things and running as root on my salt master and this is an Ubuntu 1604 box and Ive got two minions connected and here is the virgins report for the master and the two minions and this is a pretty helpful command by the way I definitely recommend it for larger environments too because you can see exactly which minions are older than your master it has a nice little grouping output when you get into more minions all right before we write this salt state theres a little bit of configuration that were gonna have to do so I want to go ahead and do that first so Im going to go into the EDS salt directory first here all right and I just want to point out there is the main master configuration file and so you can certainly go ahead and edit that personally I prefer I prefer to work in the master key director
