hey woodworkers welcome back i wanted to talk about the difference between stains and um dyes and yes yes i know i know this is probably something youve heard about forever but um but i wanted to uh well i want to tell you one more version of the truth um big difference of these things and it has to do a little bit chemically with what these things are but the biggest impact for us is how it will affect the application of our finishes so um in this category were talking about adding color to the wood in some way and we can do this by adding a stain or a dye as i mentioned but i really the most important thing outside of surface preparation of the material and which of these products you want to choose and what youre going to do with these and archivalness and light fast and durability really we need to be able to see what as were doing and so importance of light it cannot be overstated with what were getting into in my shop ive updated all my lights here for daylight balanced so
