If youre using stain, the number one thing you want to do is you want to stir it with a stir stick. You do not want to shake it like you would with normal paint. So let me show you I want to pop off the lid with my five-way tool. I have rags nearby just in case theres a spill. And Ive got handy-dandy stir stick and what Im going to do is Im just going to slowly stir the stain and Im bringing all of the sediment up from the bottom. All of the colorant is usually at the bottom and you dont want to just start staining without stirring it. And likely you want to stir it regularly as youre staining your wood. So what Im doing here is Im just kind of bringing up all of the colorants nice and gently. Im wearing rubber gloves because it can be messy. Dont shake it because it causes little bubbles and it could affect the finish. So you want to stir it just like this nice and easy. When I get all the colorants in it and now Im ready to stain.
