It seems like one of the most asked questions on the internet about Macs is how do you select multiple items. So lets take a quick look at that. Im going to start off here with an example in the Finder. So I have a Finder window open. This could easily be files on the desktop as well. Ive got it open to icon view. Say I want to select multiple files here. So I can do that by clicking outside of these. If I click on one I get one. If I click on another it just changes the selection to that. But if I click outside I can click, hold down, and drag and a box is created. Anything thats underneath that box gets selected. So I can select multiple files this way. You can see I selected all those by doing that. If I click outside of it it deselects everything. I can do it again. Click, drag, and select multiples. But I could also use modifier keys. Notably the Command key and the Shift key to do this. So, for instance, if I were to select one file, let me just click on it. If I want to sele

Select multiple items: Press and hold the Command key, then click the items (they dont need to be next to each other). Select multiple items that are adjacent: Click the first item, then press the Shift key and click the last item. All items in between are included in the selection.
Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button as your Mac starts up. Release the power button when you see the startup options screen, which displays your startup disks and a gear icon labelled Options.
Open the Apple menu and choose System Settings. Pick General Login items. Look at the top for a list of apps under Open at Login. To stop a program from launching, select it, then click - (minus).
On your Mac, choose Apple menu System Settings, click General in the sidebar, then click Login Items on the right. (You may need to scroll down.) Do any of the following: Add a login item: Click the Add button below the list of items, select a document, folder, app, server or other item, then click Add.
Go to Apple menu Shut Down. Press and hold the power button, and do not release it until the Loading startup options message appears. Click Options Continue. You may need to enter your password, choose a volume, or enter the admin account.
You can also click near the first item, press and hold the trackpad or mouse button, then drag over all of the items. This methods especially useful in the Icon view in the Finder. Select all items in a window: Click a window to make it active, then press Command-A.
Add contacts to a list In the Contacts app on your Mac, select one or more contacts listed in the sidebar. Theres no limit to the number of contacts you can add to a list. Drag the selected contacts to a list in the sidebar.
In macOS Ventura and higher, go to System Settings General Login Items. For those on older systems, head to System Preferences Users Groups Login Items. Here, you will see a list of apps set to launch on startup.
