Now there are three basic principles of quoting The quote itself has to be surrounded by quotation marks Cite the author correctly so make sure you include the authors name, the year, and if its from a book or journal, You need the exact page number as well. Direct Quotations Quotation marks always come in pairs. Capitalize the first letter of a direct quote when the quoted material is a complete sentence. Do not use a capital letter when the quoted material is a fragment or only a piece of the original materials complete sentence.
Citing a quote within a quote is as simple as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. List the original authors last name. Include the date of publication of the original. Add as cited in then the name of the work. Follow with the publishing date of the cited work. List the page the information can be found on.
