Hi There. This is Michael from MSA with some more nonprofit quick tips. Today were going to talk about how to write an effective press release. The first thing you need to do is think of an attention-grabbing headline and format it in bold, capitalizing the first letter and any proper nouns. Start off your first paragraph with the city youre in, the date, and some sort of attention-grabbing first line, also known as the grabber. The release should be written as youd like to see it appear in print. Make the journalists job as easy as possible, providing clearly the who, what, when, where, why, and how. Theyre very busy. Theyll appreciate it. If theres a quote you can use, include it in the press release. This is a great way to add a personal touch and make the story come to life. At the end of your release, its a good idea to include an about section introducing your organization and your work, so the journalist can get a better idea of who you are. Be sure to include your

Consider these five components when drafting your release and you'll set yourself up for success. Relevant timing. ... Compelling headline. ... Informative lead paragraph. ... Supporting quotes. ... Clear call to action.
How to write a good press release Find a newsworthy angle. Craft an appealing press release headline. Summarize your story in your subtitle. Introduce essential information. Provide supporting information and context. Lead into the reader's next steps. End with your boilerplate.

You don't have to include images in your press release but can upload them to a Google folder or Dropbox before sharing the link in the text of your press release. If you have multiple photos to share or want to share high-quality images with the media, this is a good option.
At the very least, you should always include a high-res image of your logo in your press release. If possible, add relevant and high-quality images, that grab attention and add value to your news story.
A boilerplate is a standardized last paragraph that is inserted in all the press releases giving an outline of the company's products, services, clients, awards, its purpose and positioning, and often, its size, presence, key locations as well as its website and social media profile links.
1. to be able. 2. to thrive; prosper; do well.
Where do I put the company boilerplate in the press release? The boilerplate paragraph will always go at the bottom of a press release. You do not want it to get in the way or distract from the information that is driving the release.
Avoid any language suggesting your product is “the best” or phrases such as “Buy Now”. A press release must be newsworthy. Tell a good factual story about your new product and journalists will be interested in it and your brand as a whole.
Three number signs/pound symbols (###), centered directly above the boilerplate or underneath the body copy in a press release, indicating to media that there is no further copy to come.
