Draft quality, Draft view, or draft mode is a feature found on older printers where they would lower their quality and saturation for a "test version" of a printed document. Draft mode was used to show the user what the print job would look like (while saving some ink/toner) before printing the final copy.
Use the “draft mode” on your printer to reduce the amount of ink or toner used. Some printers produce good enough results with draft mode to use that all the time (laser printers especially). Often, however, the draft mode is recommended only for test prints and proofing, not the final document.
How do you select draft mode? Just as you did for printing specific pages select File, Print . Depending on your printer, find and look under either “Properties” or “Advanced" Properties for Print Quality, Color or Image Quality, or comparable verbiage. Then look for Draft, Fast Draft, Economical, etc.
These modes actually spray less ink on each printed page. Depending on the printer, you might conserve 5 to 10 percent per page, and over the course of many printouts, this tactic could save you a bundle of dough. Draft mode works in various ways.

Word allows you to print drafts of your documents. This can be very helpful in speeding up the printing process, particularly if you have a complex document with lots of fonts and graphics. When printing drafts, the final fonts are not used, nor are the graphics printed in place.
"Draft" mode saves up to half the ink of regular print mode. times this is enough and the prints are of decent quality. This is usually sufficient for casual reading or for reference. Draft mode also prints MUCH faster than normal mode.
Click the print options pop-up menu (within the separator bar), then choose Paper Feed. Click the All Pages From the button, then choose Manual Feed from the pop-up menu. Now, try and change the print quality by going to Presets – Paper type/quality. You should get the “Draft” option now.
Draft mode uses less printing media and requires fewer passes from the printhead. This allows it to last much longer than if you use higher quality print modes.
