The point is that you have to have a resume that is ATS optimised and ATS optimised resumes definitely dont include photos. If you dont know what I am going on about when I mention ATS, heres an article that tells you all you need to know so that your resume isnt rejected when you apply for online jobs.
In most roles, a persons appearance is not a selection criterion. If your role and industry focus more on your skills and qualifications, a picture is not necessary for your CV. For example, roles in healthcare, finance, manufacturing and technology focus more on your portfolio of work than on your appearance.
An Applicant Tracking System (ATS) cant process a photo But heres something that you may not realize. These systems are unable to read or process images. That means that you gain the grand total sum of zero when you put a picture on your resume.
Dont oversize your photo You may look great, but you dont want to take up the precious space you need for your resumes contents. A small, passport-sized photo in the top right corner of your resume will suffice.
On the Edit Resume tab, go to the Contact Information tab. Click on the Upload a photo box to upload your headshot for this specific resume.
A resume should address your experience and skills in an articulate, concise and professional manner, so its about knowing what to include in a resume that is of added value. For this reason, its recommended to avoid adding a photo on your resume.
Because your resume will be scanned by software, an ATS resume must be easy to read (scan). Instead of fancy formatting, an ATS resume features a simple font, layout and labels. ATS focuses on keywords to determine if an application matches what the employer is looking for.
While some people want to add a professional photo to their resume, the standard practice is to exclude this element. There are several benefits to not adding a photo to your resume, such as keeping your resume concise.
