Provide the following elements in this order: The phrase Image source or Source Author/Creator. Title. Date. URL where accessed. Provide a brief statement about the rights or permissions under which you are using the image. Some examples might be:
It is also recommended to include the photographers name and a link to their website or other online portfolios if you can find one. The picture credit should be directly under the image. But remember to abide by the owners and the original image sources license requirements when structuring the attribution.
The main elements included in image citations across APA, MLA, and Chicago style are the name of the images creator, the image title, the year (or more precise date) of publication, and details of the container in which the image was found (e.g. a museum, book, website).
While giving credit is generally considered an ethical practice, it does not automatically grant legal permission to use someone elses copyrighted material. Copyright infringement occurs when someone uses, copies, or distributes copyrighted material without the explicit authorisation of the copyright owner.
What Is a Photo Credit? Photo credit is a brief statement that identifies the author of a published photograph. In other words, If we use an image that is not ours, we must give that person due credit, recognize that we have used their photo, and mention the source.
Include information in the following order: author (if available) year produced (if available) title of image (or a description) Format and any details (if applicable) name and place of the sponsor of the source. accessed day month year (the date you viewed/ downloaded the image)
Place the image credits adjacent to the photo which usually means below it or positioned somewhere along one edge. Make the image credit noticeable and readable. Besides placing it near the image it refers to, use a font style and size that is easy to see and understand.
