Photographic silkscreen printing: This printing process uses a light sensitive emulsion applied directly to the silkscreen in order to expose a film positive of the image, using a proper light source.
Expose Your Screens By placing your artwork positive between the light source and the screen, the art should block the light from hardening the emulsion, allowing you to wash it out and press ink through the image area.
You can make screen print transfers at home by following these general steps: Create your design using graphic design software like docHub Illustrator or Photoshop. Print your design onto a transparent film using a laser printer. Apply emulsion onto the screen using a scoop coater, and let it dry in a dark place.
There are two main ways that you can expose your images using sunlight: You can place a large book or similarly shaped support underneath the screen, and on top of the screen place your film with your design front face down. Then, place a large piece of glass or transparent plexiglass on top of the film.
Step 1 Methods for screen printing and setting up artwork. Step 2 Registration marks for screen printing. Step 3 Separating colours into layers. Step 4 Creating trap between layers. Step 5 Turn all colours to black. Step 6 Printing screen print transparencies / film positives. Step 7 Check layers match up.
Photo emulsion is light sensitive so we can use light to transfer an image to the screen. The image can be anything including photographs, drawings, computer-printed text or illustrations anything. The image, however, has to be black and white.
How to Silk Screen has a good overview of the photo-emulsion process. Step 1: Gather Your Materials! Step 2: Preparing Your Photo Emulsion. Step 3: Coating the Screen. Step 4: Prepare Your Image. Step 5: Expose Your Screen, Then Rinse. Step 6: Print With Your Screen!
Youll need an inkjet printer, some transfer paper, and an iron. Get the right transfer paper. Transfer paper can be purchased at most stationery, craft, and office supply stores. Print your design. Cut out the image. Iron on the design. Let the shirt cool and carefully peel off the paper.
