To create an AMI from a snapshot using the console Open the Amazon EC2 console at https://console.aws.amazon.com/ec2/ . In the navigation pane, choose Snapshots. Select the snapshot from which to create the AMI, and then choose Actions, Create image from snapshot. For Image name, enter a descriptive name for the image.

Click the Override box to specify a different value. Attachment options - A volume will be created from the snapshot and attached to the instance.
