this is a little bonus segment im going to show you guys how to log in to practicemate and add a pair so lets see if i can share my screen get into my practice mate account pretty much any platform you use youre going to have to create your payer table and so its all roughly the same process but essentially what youre going to do is youre going to go to manage office youre going to come down to insurance insurances and this is where like ive already got these payers set up but lets say im going to add a new new payer so if i click add new and i click browse what it does it gives me a list of all the payers in the database so lets say for example its an aetna plan i type in aetna and i hit search now ive got three pages of aetna usually if youre looking for your specific state you can find it but whats more important is the payer id number because it doesnt matter what it says here on the right what matters is that the payer id matches the payer id on the insurance card

Payers are typically categorized in four ways: Health plans, payers, insurers, and payviders. A common misconception is that these are all synonymous with each other, but theyre not exactly interchangeable terms. Health plans pay the cost of medical care, while the payer processes and pays provider claims.
A payer ID is a unique ID thats assigned to each insurance company. This ID is used to submit claims electronically through our system. The payer ID is typically a 5 character code, but it could be longer. Note: Payers sometimes use different payer IDs depending on the clearinghouse theyre working with.
Payor is used interchangeably with payer. The person making the payment, satisfying the claim, or settling a financial obligation. For example, the person writing a check is the payor, or an employer paying their worker is the payor.
The Payer ID or EDI is a unique ID assigned to each insurance company. It allows provider and payer systems to talk to one another to verify eligibility, benefits and submit claims. The payer ID is generally five (5) characters but it may be longer. It may also be alpha, numeric or a combination.
Common examples of payors include: ERISA Self-Funded Employee Benefit Plan/Union Trust An employer-sponsored health benefit plan where financial responsibility for overall cost of care lies with the employer instead of with an insurer.
Healthcare costs are paid for by private payers or public payers. Private payers are insurance companies and public payers are federal or state governments.
