Complete withdrawals are not subject to the six drop legislation and do not count toward the limit. For the purposes of the six drop rule, a complete withdrawal means that you drop all your classes for the term on the same date.
A W-Withdrawal still retains its attempted hours and appears on your transcript, but has no impact on your GPA. A WF-Withdrawal Failure appears on your transcript and translates as a failure with respect to the calculation of your GPA.
An Add/Drop form signed by the instructor and the graduate adviser must be submitted to the graduate dean for approval at GradStudentSvcs@austin.utexas.edu. The instructor will determine whether a Q or a grade of F will be recorded. Courses assigned Q appear on the transcript, but are not included in the student's GPA.
It says “Prerequisite Error/Test Score Error”. What does this mean?” This message means the student may not have taken the course needed to move on to the course they are trying to add. For example, to take MATH 1113, MATH 1112 is required first.
A One-Time Exception is a Q-drop or withdrawal after the regular deadline. Every undergraduate is allowed one OTE, whether it is used to withdraw from all classes or drop one class. An OTE drop counts as one of your six Q-drops.
To locate your enrollment appointment, go to your Orion Student Center, Manage My Class tile and select the appropriate term. Register for classes after your enrollment appointment begins for the term and before the published last day to add.
Q: What is the 24/30 rule? A: One of the graduation requirements is that 24 of a student's last 30 hours must be taken at UT Dallas. That means only 6 hours in your last 30 hours can be taken elsewhere. That is why it is so important to speak with your advisor before taking classes off campus.
The class type of Non-Enrollment is used to indicate that the section choice is the student's secondary enrollment option, that the section is used in auto-enrollment, or that the section is not intended for enrollment at all (e.g. 00 sections of independent study courses).
CLASS RESTRICTION Course or section is restricted to students in a particular class (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior) Your class level must be the same as the course at the time you take it.
There will be no mark on your transcript, so colleges won't ever see or know that you dropped the class.
