Notepad is a generic text editor included with all versions of Microsoft Windows that lets you create, open, and read plaintext files with a . txt file extension. If the file contains special formatting or is not a plaintext file, it cannot be read in Notepad.
If you ever had to comment lines in source code with a particular pattern there is an easier way to do that using regular expression in notepad++. Open the replace dialog box using Ctrl+H . You can add any comment tags you like // for c++ or # for python.
What ctrl-d does: It selects the next occurence of the current selection as added multiselection. You can use it to very quickly rename variables. In Notepad++ you have to use the mouse, which is much slower, or the replace function.
You can also block comment multiple lines of code using the characters /* */ . Tip: The characters /* */ on lines that already are already commented out are not affected when you comment and uncomment code as described above.
As an example, open the Notepad++ file and select the line you want to comment on. The CTRL K keyboard shortcut will be used to comment out the line.
In Notepad, you can comment out a line of text or code by starting the line with the character sequence //. Anything on the line following the double forward slash will be ignored by the program. This is useful if you need to temporarily remove a line of code or text from your file.
Also CTRL + K works well in Notepad++ to comment. If you had existing comments in a long block you are commenting, CTRL + Q will uncomment your actual comments, where CTRL + K just add another level of // in front. CTRL + SHIFT + K removes a single line comment from the selection.
1 Answer Ctrl + / -- All line will be commented in // style comments(Single line comments) Ctrl + Shift + / -- All line will be commented in /* style(Multi line comment)
In order to comment in notepad++ shortcut, you will need to first select the text that you want to comment out. Once you have done that, you will need to press the shortcut key combination of Ctrl + Q.
