The three main light sources for any 3-point lighting setup include a key, a fill, and a back light. These three sources can vary in terms of angle, intensity and even color, but the principle use for each of these three lights always remains the same.
Mastering photography lighting beings with understanding three concepts: position, strength and color.
The fill light is placed somewhere on the opposite side of the product to fill in the shadows. A third back light is placed somewhere behind the subject. Backlighting separates the subject from the background. It has the potential to create the halo effect often seen in portraits.
Here are the steps: Choose a location for your three-point lighting system. Be sure there is enough space. Place your key light in front of the subject and at least 3 feet away. Position your fill light to the side of the subject at a 45-degree angle. Place your backlight behind the subject and 3-feet away.
3 point video lighting is all about creating a three-dimensional look. By placing three light sources at strategic points around the subject, each light source illuminates a separate dimension of the subject and creates an image with greater representation of height, width, and depth.
Placement: Set up three lights - key, fill, and backlight. Position the key one in front of your subject, the fill on the opposite side, and the backlight behind your subject, aiming toward the camera. Adjust Intensity: Gradually turn on and adjust each lights intensity to create a balanced and well-lit portrait.
A basic 2 light setup has one light providing the main light and the other providing the fill light. The main light is usually placed on the opposite side of the camera from the subject, and it provides a bright background for your subject.
First, cover up a white table with a white, shiny acrylic plate. This will give the underneath product reflection. Another similar plate is then positioned vertically100cm behind the table. This plate is backlit with a 90x120 cm Softbox that guarantees an even and clean illumination of the background.
