obsidian allows you to add headings and horizontal rules to your documents to make them more readable you are allowed up to six heading types meaning that you can have a heading one heading two and heading 3 up to heading 6. headings are displayed by using the hash symbol i almost called it the hashtag symbol but it is a hash symbol and if i wanted to follow this hierarchy like so sorry lets put a hash in there and heading 4 we do 5 for heading 5. six for heading six and that would give us a hierarchy like so now another thing that we can do is we can add horizontal rules or lines to our documents to break up sections the way you do this is you add three dashes like so and youll notice that immediately the syntax highlighting changes the way its displayed so if i press ctrl e to go back to my preview mode youll see theres a line here now just something else to take note of if i have some text over here like so and i put three dashes underneath it becomes a heading one thats just

You can use the following methods to add blank lines in your Markdown code: To add a single extra line after a paragraph, add two extra spaces ( ) at the end of the text. To add an extra line of space between paragraphs, add the HTML non-breaking space (   ) code, followed by two extra spaces (e.g.   ).
To create an unordered list, add dashes ( - ), asterisks ( * ), or plus signs ( + ) in front of line items. Indent one or more items to create a nested list.

To create a heading, add number signs ( # ) in front of a word or phrase. The number of number signs you use should correspond to the heading level. For example, to create a heading level three (

), use three number signs (e.g., ### My Header ).

To nest one list within another, indent each item in the sublist by four spaces. You can also nest other elements like paragraphs, blockquotes or code blocks. You can mix ordered and unordered lists. To nest a paragraph or blockquote, indent by either 4 spaces or one tab.
You can create bullet points in an unordered list in markdown format using an asterisk “*” at the beginning of the line. Links can be inserted anywhere in the readme.md.
