We often hear that you want to make data easier to understand by including text in your formulas, such as 2,347 units sold. To include text in your functions and formulas, surround the text with double quotes ().
Unfortunately, you cant use formula fields in Email Alerts. As you described, you need to add Email field. To prevent filling this field twice ( in Customer Information and in Sale Order) you can create a Workflow rule to autofill or update email address in Sale Order based on Customer Information.
To add conditional logic IF THEN SF HTML email templates - Merge fields start with {! and end with }. You do not use {! or } within the merge field. In addition, you can use a CASE statement, which is easier to read.
Formula fields can have a number of applications, such as: Perform calculations between multiple number fields (which is also possible through Salesforce Reports to a certain extent). Display data from related objects. Concatenate and manipulate fields.
To create a Sample HYPERLINK formula field: Go to Salesforce Setup Object Manager Work Order. On the left sidebar, click Fields Relationships. Click New. Select Formula and click Next. In Field Label, type My Formula Field. Select Text as the type of data you expect your formula to return. Click Next.
Rules: You can use multiple formula blocks on an email template, however a formula block can only have a single equation. Additionally, formula blocks cannot be stacked, meaning you cant have a formula within another formula. Email template files are located in the Email folder on the server computer.
When building the body of the email, you can use the merge field picker to insert merge fields. This is a button at the bottom right of the text area. Look for the { } symbol to access the merge field picker. (It is not possible to use merge field picker on the subject of the email template.)
How Do I Create a Formula Field in Salesforce? Access the Object Manager from Setup navigate to the object you wish to create the Formula Field on. Click New in the Field and Relationship section of the Object you decide on. Select Formula as the field type.
