To use the Fx keys as standard function keys, press and hold the Fn button and then press the required function key. If youre using a non-Apple keyboard that doesnt have an Fn key, try pressing and holding the Control key instead. You can change the default behavior of the function keys on Mac too, however.
On MacBook Air M2, F4 brings up Spotlight, which Ive already accustomed to bring up by using Command + Space . I had to press fn + F4 to get the actual F4 to bring up the Launchpad.
