WHAT IS AN OVERPAYMENT? An overpayment is when you receive more money for a month than the amount you should have been paid. The amount of your overpayment is the difference between the amount you received and the amount due.
If you have employees - even temporary ones - you will also need to register with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. It oversees employee reporting, new hire reporting, unemployment insurance and wage reporting for the state of Indiana.
These requirements include being able, available, and actively searching for work; that you lost your job through no fault of your own; and that you earned enough wages during your base period to qualify for payments. Submit a claim for unemployment insurance if you meet all the requirements.
In order to establish your unemployment claim, please visit your nearest WorkOne Center. Find your nearest WorkOne Center on the WorkOne website. Or file your claim on line at the Indiana Department of Workforce Development website.
