today i decided to clean the grave of her sister fanny and yes i know some of you are going to giggle at that name but it was a pretty common name in the 19th century i have two sisters of my own and i figured that one sister couldnt look that much better than the other one so here we are fannie died at the age of 21 in 1887 her cause of death as i mentioned in lotties video was tuberculosis the term for that at the time was consumption a lot of times people in the comments will tell me that they thought consumption referred to alcoholism i dont know if this is because we still use the phrase alcohol consumption to describe how much someone drinks but regardless in a historical context consumption was the word for tuberculosis it was called consumption presumably because tuberculosis left untreated essentially consumes a person sometimes the infection can last months or up to a year or maybe even more the person coughs up blood becomes very gaunt becomes weaker and weaker until even
