They show a simple and easy way to do it, as well as the proper way to adjust or edit the date once it has been added. The process involves going to the File menu, clicking on Options, selecting Customize Ribbon, and choosing the Developer option. Once the Developer tab appears, the date picker can be added by selecting the icon in the Control section. This allows users to easily add and edit dates in their Word documents.

Place the year before the month and conclude with the day. The same date, which would be 10/09/22 in American English but 09/10/22 in British English becomes 2022-10-09 in the International Standard. You could also write this date out as 2022 October 9. ... Always include the full 4-digit year when using this format.
Click the Insert tab, and then choose Field from the Quick Parts dropdown in the Text group. In the resulting dialog, choose Date in the Categories list and then choose a format from the Date formats list (Figure A). Click OK.
To insert the current date using a keyboard shorcut, press Alt + Shift + D to insert the Date field in a content control. This will insert the Date field which will update automatically.
On the Insert tab, in the Text group, click Date & Time. In the Date and time dialog box, select the format you want. Select the Update automatically check box. The date is inserted as a field and will update automatically.
Shift + Alt + D shortcut key is used to insert the current date.
In a less formal situation, you might use numbers or abbreviations for months. However, if you are writing the date in an academic paper or other formal situation, you'll need to spell out the words.
