if you want to add current date and time to a document here is how you can do it click on insert click on explore quick parts click on field field dialog box is displayed in categories select date and time select date you can see word displays today's date text at the bottom under field properties select the required date format click OK to add current date you can see current date is added to the document to add current time same procedure instead of date select time you can see word displays current time text at the bottom under field properties select the required time format click OK and you can see current time is added to the document now if you save this document and whenever the document is opened word displays the current date of the day and the current time

Inserting the current date using a keyboard shortcut To insert the current date using a keyboard shorcut, press Alt + Shift + D to insert the Date field in a content control. This will insert the Date field which will update automatically.
