Open Microsoft Word. Go to the Insert tab. Click Quickparts and select Field from the dropdown. Under the Field names list, select If.

Select Insert Equation or press Alt + =. To use a built-in formula, select Design Equation. To create your own, select Design Equation Ink Equation.

Place your cursor where you want the conditional text to go. Go to Mailings Rules IfThen Else. In the Field name list choose the field from your data source that will determine the conditional text.
