In this tutorial, MDtech shows how to create comments on Microsoft Word for easy reference and collaboration while revising documents. By going to the insert tab and highlighting the text, users can easily add comments and suggestions to specific sections of the document. The highlighted text will be shown in a comment color, and users can enter any desired comments on the right side of the document.

In the Comments pane, you can see a single list of all comments in your document, including resolved comments. To switch between the contextual view and the Comments pane, simply click the Comments button in the upper right corner of your Word window.
Word wont allow you to add comments to text within a text box, as you can to regular text in your document. If you absolutely must have comments in your text boxes, there are two possible solutions. The first is to work around it by just adding hidden text in the text box.
Press Shift+F2 as a workaround to insert comments.
Right-click the cell and then click Insert Comment (or press Shift+F2). If youre using Excel for Office 365, right-click the cell and choose New Note. Type your annotation text. Click outside the cell.
The document must be in Print Layout view (Alt+Ctrl+P) to show comments in balloons. Select the Review tab in the Ribbon. In the Tracking group, click Show Markup Balloons and select Show Revisions in Balloons or Show Only Comments and Formatting in Balloons as desired.
Threaded Comments Task Pane On the Excel Ribbon, click the Review tab. In the Comments group, click Show Comments. A task pane opens, showing all the threaded comments.
Show comments Select Review Show Comments to show or hide the comments. Select Next or Previous to go between comments.

Modern Comments are available only if youre using Word for Microsoft 365. If youre using an older version of Office, youll still see comments from other users, but in the classic Comments experience.
