Remember that although these clauses have subjects and verbs, the subordinating conjunction makes it dependent and unable to stand alone. If the sentence begins with a dependent clause, a comma goes at the end of the clause (and right before the beginning of the next clause).
I have a cat, it has a nasty temper. A dependent clause is a clause that cannot stand as a sentence in its own right, such as before I left the parking lot. When a complex sentence contains a dependent clause like this one, a comma is not used unless the dependent clause comes before the independent clause.
It turns out there is a pretty simple rule: If a subordinate clause comes before the clause it is attached to then it should be followed by a comma. You do not need a comma before a subordinate clause if it follows the main clause (except whereas and although).
If the dependent clause is first (again, rather like an introduction to the main clause), it is followed by a comma (like in this sentence and the next). If the independent clause comes first, no punctuation separates the two.
Commas are used to separate two independent clauses. An independent clause can stand on its own as a sentence. They usually occur with coordinating conjunctions and, but, for, or, nor, so, yet.
Examples: Because he studied for the test, he did very well. Because he studied for the test is a dependent clause as it contains both a subject and a verb and cannot stand alone. Since the dependent clause came first, it is followed by a comma.
To combine two independent clauses (complete sentences), use a semicolon or a comma and conjunction. To attach a dependent clause, use a comma if it comes before the independent clause; use no comma if it comes after the independent clause, unless it is a contrast word (although, though, even though, whereas).
Thats up to you. The states do not require or mandate the use of a comma between the title of your business and the corporation or LLC designation when naming your business. That said, many business owners prefer to use the comma to set apart their business name and to meet state requirements for the designation.
