To create inline code, wrap with backticks ` . To create a code block, either indent each line by 4 spaces, or place 3 backticks ``` on a line above and below the code block. A code block or span displays every character inside exactly as it was typed.
As a workaround I would suggest inserting a vertical bar (|) followed by hard spaces (Alt-Code on Windows: Alt+0160). This preserves the indent after the bar resulting in a visually acceptable solution for raw and rendered Markdown. This is a normal line of text. | This is an indented line of text.
For an empty line in Markdown, escape a space ( \ ), and then add a new line. Remember: escape a space and escape a new line. That way is Markdown compliant and should compile properly in any compiler.
There are two ways to format code in Markdown. You can either use inline code, by putting backticks (`) around parts of a line, or you can use a code block, which some renderers will apply syntax highlighting to.
Here's a quick way to get your code to show up in your README. Go to the source code you want to copy, highlight it, click on the context menu and choose Copy permalink. Past the content into a Markdown file. See the code reference in all of its glory!
You can create fenced code blocks by placing triple backticks ``` before and after the code block. We recommend placing a blank line before and after code blocks to make the raw formatting easier to read.
Type nbsp to add a single space. Type ensp to add 2 spaces. Type emsp to add 4 spaces. You can use non-breaking space ( nbsp ) 4 times to insert a tab.
Aligning Text By default, all text in Markdown fields are aligned to the left. You can also align to the right, or center the content by wrapping the text in div tags.
Use the greater than sign (>) followed by a space, for example: > Text that will be indented when the Markdown is rendered. Any subsequent text is indented until the next carriage return.
