The F1 through F12 FUNCTION keys have special alternate commands. These keys are called enhanced function keys. Enhanced function keys provide quick access to frequently used commands that can increase your productivity. These commands are typically printed above or on the keys.
Use keyboard function keys on Mac On your Mac, choose Apple menu System Settings, then click Keyboard in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.) Click Keyboard Shortcuts on the right, then click Function Keys in the list on the left. Turn on Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys or Use F1, F2, etc.
Check the keyboard settings Perhaps, you have accidentally changed the keyboard preference so that nothing happens when you press the F10, F11, and F12 volume keys on the Mac keyboard. You may have enabled the Fn keys in the settings.
