The paper must withstand the rigors. You can use a wood fiber based paper for screen printing, it would dissolve. Transparencies dont contract or stretch and you cannot use the same one for more than one color. If the image being screen printed is multiple colors the images have to be color separated.
Screen printing on paper or card is pretty much the same as screen printing on fabric and its easier than you might think! First off, you dont need a fancy set up. A little bit of space, a table top and a couple of screen printing products will get you going.
To quote a print job accurately, you need to calculate your costs accurately. There are many factors that influence printing costs, such as the quantity, printing technology, stock type, finishing, and shipping costs.
For a long time, the printing industry recognized five major processes. These are grouped in to; relief printing (letterpress, flexography), planographic printing (offset lithography), recess printing (gravure/intaglio), stencil printing (screen) and digital printing (toner and inkjet).
Screen printing is a printing technique where a mesh is used to transfer ink (or dye) onto a substrate, except in areas made impermeable to the ink by a blocking stencil.
The screen is lowered down onto the printing board. Ink is added to the top end of the screen, and a squeegee is used to pull the ink along the full length of the screen. This presses the ink through the open areas of the stencil, imprinting the design on the product underneath.
Steps of the printing process Each printing process is divided into prepress, press, and postpress steps. Prepress operations encompass steps during which the idea for a printed image is converted into an image carrier such as a plate, cylinder, or screen.
