The first section includes names, contact information and social security numbers. The income section, includes information on wages, salaries, taxable interest, and unemployment compensation. Although you will have to calculate your taxes yourself, the IRS allows you to e-file the forms at no chargebut you must create an online account with the IRS in order to do so.
Form 1040EZ was ultimately scrapped due to the limitations of the form. The IRS opted for the building block approach of allowing taxpayers to more easily add allowances or credits as applicable to their return.

The amount shown where the taxable income line and filing status column meet is $2,599. This is the tax amount they should enter in the entry space on Form 1040, line 16. * This column must also be used by a qualifying surviving spouse.
