all right you got to put in your current mailing address okay this is again current mailing address this is not the the address of where you were at last year this is your current mailing address so i get this confusion a lot you know if people move from you one year to the next and like wait thats not where i lived last year thats not what were putting on the tax return were putting our current address because we want the irs to mail us anything that they need to mail us to our current address um youre like well i dont want mail from the irs not a good not a good option there um because lets say they were to issue you a refund check youd want that mail okay now maybe mail you dont want to see is like a taxes owed or like lets say worse even is like a lien that theyre going to place on your assets right but we do want that mail because maybe we can respond to it before they actually take action so very important that you put your current mailing address here all right enough

2022 Refunds to be issued by paper check in 2023 It is critical for everyone who has had a change of address since filing a tax return in 2022 to update their address immediately, to ensure any refund is not sent to the wrong address.
Why is having the correct address on your tax return so important? Your address is not just a way for the IRS to know where you live; its an essential part of your identity as a taxpayer.
If a third party is looking for proof of residence and they find a Form W2 acceptable, then that would suffice. Some third parties are looking for information that is more definitive, such as a utility bill with your name on it, property tax records, etc.
First things first, youll need to amend your tax return. How does that work? The IRS has a specific form for this purpose: Form 1040X. Youll attach the corrected form(s), such as the corrected 1040 with the new address, and write a clear explanation of the changes.
Compare the taxpayers address to Form W-2 address. If the address on the W-2 is different, correct the W-2 address here to match the original Form W-2. This wont change the tax return address.
If you are entering information for income earned from your own business, you would enter the address of the business. If your business does not have an address, you would use your home address.
Incorrect employee address If you put the wrong address on the copies of Form W-2 you distributed to your employee, youll need to do one of the following (again, do not file Form W-2c with the SSA): Issue a new Form W-2 containing the correct address. Write REISSUED STATEMENT on the new employee copies.
The address information would only be important if the employer was mailing them to you. But if you will be downloading the documents, then the address on the W-2 form is of zero importance. The thing that links the data to you is your social security number or tax id number, it isnt the mailing address.
