What is LWP leave? LWP stands for leave without pay. Similar to LOP, it refers to unpaid leave taken by an employee when they have exhausted their available leave balance. The terms LWP and LOP are often used interchangeably.
There are cases when an employee has exhausted all leave balance but still requires time-off for some exigency. In such situations, companies allow them to go on leave without pay (LWP).
Leave without pay (LWP) refers to extended periods of time off from work that are unpaid. LWP can be voluntary or involuntary. Employees may request LWP if they need time off but have exhausted their paid vacation or sick leave.
Leave without Pay (LWP) can be applied by an employee when no other leave is available. During this period, the employee is not entitled for any pay or allowance.
In such situations, companies allow them to go on leave without pay (LWP). Since there is a loss of income (LOP) when an employee avails this type of leave, its also called LOP leave.
