as weve been working creating a form weve seen a lot of different types of form input fields weve used the input tag for a single line text box and limited to just numbers and other things like that weve looked at radio buttons check boxes and drop down menus and select boxes what we havent looked at however is the ability to have a multi-line text box and theres a special form field for that so what im going to do is im going to come over here and go back to my field and im going to put a label for and this will be for our comments now im going to go and create the form field for our multi-line text box and this is going to be a little bit different than a lot of the other types of form fields that weve used before so im going to put in text area and im going to go ahead and give it a name comments and the same id since that will match the four attribute on my label youll notice when i close a tag and create a closing tag so theres both an open and a closing tag now lav

A very simple way is to use the readonly attribute in the input HTML tag.
We use tag to get user input in HTML. To give a limit (or range) to the input field, we use the min and max attributes, which is to specify a maximum and minimum value for an input field respectively. To set the maximum character limit in input field, we use maxlength attribute.
Fit text automatically Click anywhere in the text. On the Format menu, point to AutoFit Text, and do one of the following: To reduce the point size of text until there is no text in overflow, click Shrink Text On Overflow. To shrink or expand text to fit in the text box when you resize the box, click Best Fit.
To create a text box, use the input element, specify text as the type attributes value, and name the text box using the name attribute. This is how the markup may appear in the browser.
Answer: Use the jQuery val() Method You can simply use the jQuery val() method to set the value of an input text box.
The size attribute specifies the visible width, in characters, of an element. Note: The size attribute works with the following input types: text, search, tel, url, email, and password. Tip: To specify the maximum number of characters allowed in the element, use the maxlength attribute.
Setting a Default Value for the Textbox If you want to set the default value to a textbox, you can use the value attribute. Whenever the form is loaded, the default value is shown inside the textbox.
The value attribute specifies the value of an element. The value attribute is used differently for different input types: For button, reset, and submit - it defines the text on the button. For text, password, and hidden - it defines the initial (default) value of the input field.
