The available format specifiers are as follows: %s Format as a string. %i Format as an integer. %f Format as a floating point value. %O Format as a JavaScript object. %o Format as a DOM element. %c Format as a CSS rule, which is applied to the emitted log line.
console. log(%cHello World! , color:blue;font-size:20px;); From the above example, we can see that to add CSS styles to a console message we need to add the %c directive in front of the string to be styled and then follow the string with a comma and then have a string with CSS style rules.
Add CSS Styles to Console Log Output log(%c hello world , background: #222; color: #bada55); We add the %c tag so that we can apply the CSS styles in the 2nd argument to the hello world text. We set the background property to set the background color. And we set the color property to change the text color.
Syntax. Here, we have used the %c format specifier to declare that well be applying CSS styles to the console output, we have written a String wed like to print to the console, and finally we have defined the CSS effect wed like to apply to the String.
The CSS of an element can be obtained using the getComputedStyle element function in JavaScript. It returns a JavaScript object containing CSS properties and their values. This object is indexed and iterable over the property names. The getPropertyValue(property) is used to get the value of a property.
When viewing the source code of minified JavaScript or CSS files in Chrome Developer tools, it is very useful to be able to auto-format them. Chrome developer tools provide a pretty-print option for this purpose. Click on the small icon with two curly braces.

You can use the %c format specifier to style the console messages with CSS. Enter the following console command. const style = background-color: darkblue; color: white; font-style: italic; border: 5px solid hotpink; font-size: 2em; console. The command above produces Hooray with CSS styles applied.
