Advanced metadata storage (GeoTIFF) A GeoTiff stores metadata inside a TIFF image file, providing the user valuable information about an images GPS location and coordinates. The TIFF stores metadata valuable for geographical images.
Open a raw image, TIFF or JPEG in Loupe view. Select Photo Enhance in the menu bar (or, Control-click on a Mac/right-click in Windows on the image and click on Enhance. Select Super Resolution from the Enhance box.
Another difference is that TIFF files support layers, whereas JPEG files do not. This means that you can edit a TIFF file and change the order of the layers, whereas with a JPEG file you can only edit the image as a whole.

So regardless of which acronym you use, both refer to the same image format. The two acronyms are used interchangeably, so theres no need to worry about which one youre using.
