Here are our 12 easy tips to go pro at shooting with less than ideal lighting. Use a Full Frame Camera. Use Prime Lenses. Use a Wide Open Aperture when Shooting in Dark Wedding Venues. Try a Longer Exposure in Dark Wedding Venues. Increase Your ISO. Keep it Steady in Dark Wedding Venues. Use an Unexpected Light Source.
If the invitation says You are invited to and then later you include the information snacks/dinner/light refreshments/a buffet (or whatever) will be served, this should be enough.
I like the light refreshments:it incorporates that the hors doeuvres wont be hot and that no meal will be served. Another option would be something along the lines of Light hors doeuvres and drinks to follow. I really like incorporating light into the wording, I think that will work well.
Reception Lighting for Those First Impressions It is important if you have a reception to have good lighting. Customers and clients will have an impression of your business the moment they walk through the door, a dark dingy reception air will not give the best indication of the business.
You should include phrases such as accepts with pleasure or declines with regret, or opt for more informal response options. You can also add a number attending line so that people can specify whether or not they are bringing their children.
Generally, a faster shutter speed (1/125 or higher) and a smaller aperture (f/2.8 to f/9) help balance the flash with ambient light. Keep the ISO setting as low as possible (100-400) to minimize noise.
Though nothing is truly necessary at a wedding other than the marrying couple, uplighting is, more often than not, a good idea.
One of the crucial conditions is that the event space has white ceilings under 30 tall. What I do is I bounce my on camera flash onto the ceiling so I get a soft, diffused light. I generally bounce the flash at a 45 degree angle to the left or right depending on where my subject is looking.
