[Music] we get a lot of questions about the recommended hanging hikes with LEDs first of all above all whatever regardless what LED light you buy follow the manufacturers recommendations because each LED is a very specific angle at a very specific height and the manufacturer has designed that to cover a certain area at a certain height so above all check the manufacturers recommendations in general you have a lot of wider spread out LEDs this kind of spider design these can go very close to the plants but the light is less intense and much more spread out they lose their power very quickly as you go higher other lights that are direct HPS replacements tend to be more powerful and more focused angle these you have to have a higher Headroom so in general if your light has a fixed power level in other words theyre not dimmable your only way to change the light intensity at the plant level is to raise or lower the lights in general youll get let much less intense to be at the higher hang

During light adaptation retinal sensitivity is lost. Dark adaptation is essentially the reverse of light adaptation. It occurs when going from a well light area to a dark area. Initially blackness is seen because our cones cease functioning in low intensity light.
When the photon strikes one of the light-sensitive cells in the retina, it is absorbed by an opsin molecule. The colour-sensing cone cells use three different photopsins, one for each primary colour. The rod cells use rhodopsin, which senses only light intensity, not colour.
Ambient light response Rods take over at twilight and night. The y-axis has logarithmic scaling. A minor mechanism of adaptation is the pupillary light reflex, adjusting the amount of light that docHubes the retina very quickly by about a factor of ten.
The retina adapts to average light intensity but also to the range of light intensities (contrast). A study by Baccus and Meister, in this issue of Neuron, identifies three ways that ganglion cells and interneurons adapt to high contrast: shorten integration time, reduce gain, and depolarize.
The Pupil: The eye in many ways is like a camera. The cameras aperture is the part that expands and contracts to let in more or less light. The pupil works in a similar fashion. It will get very small in bright light to physically block the amount of light docHubing the retina and will open wide in the darkness.
Light adaptation is the process of adjusting to bright light after exposure to dim light. This process often takes a minute or two to be completed. Dark adaptation, on the other hand, refers to the process of adjusting to dim light after exposure to bright light.
Adaptation is the adjustment of the eye to different luminances. When changing from light to dark and vice versa, adaptation is initially performed by enlarging or reducing the pupil. Most of the adaptive capability is provided by two photoreceptors on the retina.
With light adaptation, the eye has to quickly adapt to the background illumination to be able to distinguish objects in this background. Light adaptation can be explored by determining increment thresholds. In an increment threshold experiment, a test stimulus is presented on a background of a certain luminance.
