Most of us first get exposed to mythology through illustrated kidamp;#39;s books. This gives us the false impression that mythology is like a book - written down and not particularly prone to change. But thatamp;#39;s more like what mythology fossilizes into over time. The actual living mythology looks very different from the carefully articulated skeletons that we put in the museums. Mythology is stories, and stories change with every telling. If youamp;#39;re passing stories down generationally through folklore and oral tradition, things change a lot. Especially the characters. And in mythology, the characters are gods. So the gods end up evolving alongside their society. Every time a myth of a god gets written down, itamp;#39;s like a photograph of that god in that single moment of their development, or like a single frame from an animation. That single frame might be very cool and interesting, but if we can find enough of those keyframes and put them in the right order, we can

In Of Mice and Men, Steinbecks aim is to offer a criticism of the American Dream. He aims to show that this Dream, if not altogether an illusion, is inherently difficult to realise. George Miltons dream that he and Lennie Small will one day live off the fat of the land is a Biblical dream of plenty.
-Indirect Characterization: Lennie speaks using semi-broken English; from this as well as what we know about the time period, we know that he is probably uneducated.
Steinbeck chose the title Of Mice and Men after reading a poem called To a Mouse by Robert Burns, in which the poet regrets accidentally destroying a mouses nest. The poem resonates with several of Of Mice and Mens central themes: the impermanence of home and the harshness of life for the most vulnerable.
Steinbeck based the novella on his own experiences working alongside migrant farm workers as a teenager in the 1910s, before the arrival of the Okies that he would describe in his novel The Grapes of Wrath.
Like many of Steinbecks works, Of Mice and Men is a story about the nature of poverty, the death of the American Dream, and the lack of control that individuals have over their own lives.
Answer and Explanation: Steinbeck wrote The Grapes of Wrath to bring attention to the plight of working-class and agricultural Americans during the tumultuous 1930s and to show the complex and admirable character of poor people, whom he portrays as eminently worthy of attention and respect.
Of Mice and Men Steinbeck drew on his experiences as a farm laborer, and his observations of the migrant labor camps to write the novella. Of Mice and Men tells the story of George Milton and Lennie Small, two migrant farm workers.
In a 1937 interview with The New York Times, John Steinbeck said he had based Lennie on a man who had killed a ranch foreman but was shown leniency. Lennie was a real person, Mr. Steinbeck said. Hes in an insane asylum in California right now.
