WPT system Components The Primary components of Wireless Power Transmission are Microwave Generator, Transmitting antenna and Receiving antenna (Rectenna).
WPT using Inductive Coupling which falls under the domain of NFWPT, uses a transmitter coil to transmit power to the receiver coil via a magnetic field. Inductive coupling is an efficient way to transmit power through short distances and making its way in smartphones and the health industry.
WPT is useful to power electrical devices where interconnecting wires are inconvenient, hazardous, or are even not possible, and as such can be used to eliminate the use of wires and batteries, thus increasing the mobility, convenience, and safety of any electronic device for all of its users.
The basic elements to achieve WPT are two, transmitter and receiver. The first one is to have a transmitter which requires circuits to convert the 50 Hz to the optimal WPT frequency to improve efficiency and reduce effects on human body, this frequency is below 10 MHz.
Wireless power transfer is the transmission of electrical energy without wires as a physical connection. Wireless power uses the same fields and waves as wireless communication devices. Various radio-frequency (RF) technologies are used for wireless power transmission.
Many techniques are used for WPT such as inductive coupling, magnetic resonance coupling, and strongly coupled systems. Recently, metamaterial structures are also proposed for further transfer efficiency enhancement.
In a wireless power transmission system, a transmitter device, driven by electric power from a power source, generates a time-varying electromagnetic field, which transmits power across space to a receiver device, which extracts power from the field and supplies it to an electrical load.
Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) is the process where electrical energy is transmitted from a power source to an electrical load across an air gap using induction coils.
