A heading or subheading appears at the beginning of a page or section and briefly describes the content that follows.Accessibility # Make sure headings and subheadings always follow a consecutive hierarchy. Do not skip a header level for styling reasons. Do not use all caps. Do not bold or italicize a heading.
Modify an existing style Select text in your document that has the style applied, such as Heading 1. Format the selected text with the new attributes that you want. On the Home tab, in the Styles group, right-click the style that you want to change, and then click Update [Style Name] to Match Selection.
Tip: You can change the font and formatting of a heading style. Just select the heading text you want to customize, modify its styles the way you want, and then on the Home tab, in the Styles group, right-click the heading style that you customized and click Update Heading to Match Selection.

What you do is: ● Choose one Heading 2 that you want to change. Alter the Heading to the format you want. Highlight the Heading and right-click on Heading 2 from the Styles Group. Select Update Heading to match selection ● Every Heading 2 in the document will update to the new format!
Number your headings Open your document that uses built-in heading styles, and select the first Heading 1. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, choose Multilevel List. Under List Library, choose the numbering style you would like to use in your document.
Creating subsections in your table of contents. To create a subheading in your table of contents, create the subheading in your document. Highlight it and click Heading 2 at the top of your screen. It will be added to your table of contents, nested underneath the appropriate chapter heading.
To add a heading style Type the text you want into a Word document. Select a sentence that you want to add a header to. Select Home Styles (or press Alt+H, then L), and then select the heading you want, such as the Heading 1 button.
In the content editor, highlight the desired text. Select the proper heading level from the formatting selector (e.g. Heading for top-level heading; Sub Heading 1 for a subheading of the top-level heading, etc.).
In the Quick Styles gallery, right-click Heading 1 and choose Modify In the Style based on box, change the style to (no style). Repeat for Heading 2 and as many more levels of headings as youre using in the document.
