hello everyone Chris here and today Im going to give you a quick tutorial on how to use OpenOffice writer headers and footers and Im going to be combining that with a brief introduction on page Styles as well so to insert a header into a OpenOffice writer document first you got to go up to the insert menu header and footer now when you look at header and footer youre going to see its a default and that default there its referring to the page styles um the different page styles you have throughout the document each page style can have its own header so by having different pages set to different page styles so you can go over here and create and add in different headers to customize each page style youll see a little bit of more about what I mean in a minute here um but for right now well go ahead and customize the default page header style for the default style and we have our little header up here at the top now theres nothing in it yet and youll notice that by hitting tab we

Select File Properties Description, enter a title for your document in the Title area, and click OK to close the dialog box. Add a header (Insert Header Default). Place the cursor in the header part of the page. Select Insert Fields Title.

Push F5 to open the styles side pane. Click on the fourth icon (Page Styles) from the left in the toolbar. Right click on the current (highlighted) style, likely to be Default Style and choose Modify . Go to the Footer and header tabs to disable (uncheck) the footer and header.
Open the STYLE and FORMATTING window, (F11) select Styles and Formatting, then PAGE STYLES. Right click to select NEW, give a new name say NoFooter. Select FOOTER tab and turn off footer. If it is just a single page, choose DEFAULT STYLE as the next page.
Re: How To Remove Default Header and Footer If you mean the grey row with the column names and the column with the row numbers, then go to the menu Tools Options OpenOffice.org Calc View and de-select the option Column/Row header in the bottom right part of the window.
To remove a footer, follow the same process used to create one. Click the Insert menu, point the cursor to Footer and deselect the page style from which you want to remove the footer. For example, click Default or First Page to deselect the default or first page footer, respectively.
Remove all headers and footers Go to Insert Header or Footer, and then select Remove Header or Remove Footer. If your document has more than one section, repeat this process for each section.
