Headers and footers can be used to display information in the top and bottom margins of your document. They can include details like the authors name, page numbers, the date, and more. To create your own header or footer from scratch, double-click the margin at the top or bottom of your document. This will unlock the header or footer area, so you can add whatever information you want. You can also use the tools on the Design tab, which will appear on the right side of the Ribbon. When youre done, you can close the header or footer using the button here, or by pressing Esc on your keyboard. If you dont have a lot of experience with headers and footers, you might want to start with a built-in preset instead. Preset headers and footers give you several different designs to choose from, so theyre a great choice for any document. Turn on the display of footers for a slide master In step 3 above, if PowerPoint doesnt accept your selection of the Footer box, it means that footers are turned off in the hierarchical parent of the current layoutwhich is known as the slide master.
Edit your existing headers and footers Double-click the header or footer you want to edit, or select Header or Footer, and then select Edit Header or Edit Footer. Add or change text for the header or footer or do any of the following: When youre done, select Close Header and Footer or press Esc.
Solution: If you cant directly edit footer text, its probably the case that the footer placeholder has been turned off in Slide Master view. To change that situation, you can open Slide Master view and make changes there, as described below. On the View tab, select Slide Master.
Click VIEW Normal, and click the slide you want to change. Click INSERT Header Footer. Click the Slide tab, make the changes you want, and click either Apply to apply the changes to the selected slides, or Apply to All to make the changes to all the slides.
Show footer information on your slides Click INSERT Header Footer. On the Slide tab, check Footer. In the box below Footer, type the text that you want, such as the presentation title. Check Date and time to add that to your slides.

How do you unlock the footer in PowerPoint? Click the Header Footer button in the center of the ribbon. Uncheck the box to the left of Footer. Click Apply to All.
Select the PowerPoint slide/s containing locked shape(s) you need to unlock, then click Unlock objects (Found beneath the Lock Object icon on the PPT Productivity Ribbon). The file will close momentarily and reopen (you need to first save your document to a local drive).
