Today there are two main types of engraving methods used in the RI industry-rotary and laser engraving.
Chisels and gouges Chisels are the most basic tools used for engraving wood. They have been in use for centuries by artisans. They consist of a long blade with a sharp tip and beveled cutting edge that carves out the wood pieces. A gouge is a handheld tool with a concave blade, while the chisel has a flat blade.
For a 60W, cutting 3mm PMMA, start at 30mm/sec, 90% power. For a light engrave, try 250mm/sec at 90% power. For a deep engrave, try 150mm/sec at 90% power.
Wood engraving techniques: Most wood can be engraved using full power no matter whether you are using a 25-watt laser or a 120-watt laser. Depending on the wattage of your laser, the best approach is to set the laser power at 100 percent and adjust the speed to obtain the desired depth.
The higher the number of dots, the higher the engraving resolution will be. Generally, when laser engraving wood, a resolution of 500 - 800 DPI produces a high-quality engraving with good detailing and high contrast.
Thickness: Generally, a 40W to 45W CO2 laser like the Muse Core or 3D autofocus can cut up to thick wood, while a laser such as the P-Series PS24 or Muse Titan with a 90W Tube can cut up to thick wood.
Bitmap format is an uncompressed raster file designed to display high-resolution images. This file type will get you the best engraving results when creating complex 2d and 3d designs.
stand out by using shoe polish to darken the engraved. area.
Depending on the amount of detail that your graphic file has, we recommend increasing the image resolution to 600 dpi to allow for the very fine details to be optimally engraved.
If the engraving is misspelled, you will probably have to erase it entirely. If there is a smaller mistake, you can fix it by engraving over it, adding to the design or erasing a small part of the design.
