Indenting XML tags is never required for parsing. However, the point of XML is to be human as well as machine readable, so indentation is generally worth having, as it makes it far easier for human readers to work with and take in the structure at a glance. Its not completely ignored.
Click on Plugins Menu, Select XML Tools - Pretty Print or Pretty Print - Indent attributes or Pretty Print - Indent only option or you can choose shortcut key CTRL+ALT+Shift+A or CTRL+ALT+Shift+A command.
Use Alt + Ctrl + Shift + L . You need to use the Shift key because the actual command is L (Capital L).
Then there are a couple keyboard shortcuts to beautify the XML: Pretty Print: Ctrl + Shift + Alt + B. Pretty Print (indent attributes): Ctrl + Shift + Alt + A.
Formatting and Indenting XML Documents Format and Indent toolbar button - Formats and indents the current document. Document Source Format and Indent - Formats and indents the whole document. Document Source Indent Selection - Indents the current selection (but does not add line breaks).
