About formatting There are two different types of formatting that you can apply to the text content of your document: You can change character formatting such as font, color, or underlining. You can change paragraph formatting such as indention or line spacing.
In Google Docs, you can insert a check mark (also known as a tick mark) by using special characters. To insert a check mark, click on the location in the document where you want the check mark to appear. Then, click on Insert in the top menu bar and select Special Characters.
Tip: Use this feature for long documents, like novels or screenplays. On your computer, open a document in Google Docs. To find the count of words, characters, and pages, at the top of the page, click Tools. Word count. To close the window, click Done.
Getting started Admins: There is no admin control for this feature. End users: To display non-printing characters in a Doc, go to View Show non-printing characters. Visit the Help Center to learn more about viewing document outlines, summaries, rulers, and non-printing characters.

Find and replace text in Google Docs (desktop) Open your Google document and select Edit from the top menu bar. From the drop-down menu, click Find and replace. In the Find text entry field, type the word or phrase you would like to find and replace.
To insert a text box: Click Insert, then select Drawing from the drop-down menu. The Drawing dialog box will appear. Click the Text box command. Click and drag in the drawing area to create the text box. Release the mouse, and a text box will appear. When you are satisfied, click Save Close.
Click on the Format menu at the top of the page. Select Text and then Font size. In the font size drop-down menu, select Custom spacing. Adjust the kerning by using the Letter spacing option.
