The easiest way to change margins in LaTeX is by using the geometry package. To use a new package, use the \usepackage{..} function, specifying the package you want to use within curly brackets. You can specify your margins in the square brackets.
Just put \small before the equation and \normalsize after it if you want to shrink the font, but its usually better to use an ams multi-line equation environment than to change font size.
To increase the text size of the whole document: By default the standard classes (article, report and book) come with 3 different fonts 10 (default), 11 and 12. Here is an example: \documentclass[12pt]{report}
In LaTeX the standard font sizes for a document are 10, 11 and 12pt. Internally fonts used may be larger or smaller. Overall the standard available font sizes are 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 17, 20 and 25pt; available through macros like \tiny through \Huge .
You can add negative as well as positive space with an \vspace command. LaTeX removes vertical space that comes at the end of a page. If you dont want LaTeX to remove this space, include the optional * argument. Then the space is never removed.
We can change the font size in a LaTeX document by using one of the following: \tiny. \scriptsize. \footnotesize. \small. \normalsize. \large. \Large. \LARGE.
The \fontsize and \selectfont commands \fontsize{6}{8}\selectfont : use 6pt text with baselines spaced at 8pt. \fontsize{8}{9}\selectfont : use 8pt text with baselines spaced at 9pt. \fontsize{12}{13.5}\selectfont : use 12pt text with baselines spaced at 13.5pt.
You can also change the other spacing by using the \setstretch command, e.g. \setstretch{1.8}. To get single-spaced, one-and-half-spaced, and doublespaced effects, you can also use \setstretch{1}, \setstretch{1.5} and \setstretch{2} respectively.
