Veterans typically are not looking for gifts. A Quilt of Valor is a Civilian Award for the individuals service and sacrifice to defend our Countys freedoms. As an Award, it deserves a proper ceremony from grateful mothers, daughters, fathers, aunts, peers who nominate them for the award of a QOV.
You must be nominated and qualify for a quilt. Purple Heart Recipients. Those suffering from Post Traumatic Stress. Those with traumatic brain injuries. Those dealing with the effects of Agent Orange. Those who have served multiple tours.
The recommended size of a Quilt of Valor is 60 x 80; it must be a minimum of 55 x 65 and maximum of 72 x 90. The Quilt consists of a top, batting, and backing. It must be machine or hand quilted. A tied quilt is not acceptable for a Quilt of Valor.
Include name of recipient, names of piecer, quilter and binder, city and state of residence if desired, date and location of award. First and last names may be used. Label may also include simple washing instructions of cold water, mild detergent, use a color catcher initially and tumble dry low.
