There is no fee for permanent placards and a $5.00 fee for temporary placards. Placards must be renewed every four years. Texas law allows disabled residents to obtain either a) one set of plates with the international symbol of access plus one placard, or b) two placards.
You must complete an application form to receive a disability parking certificate. You can also apply for a certificate through the Minnesota Department of Public Safety website. Under Driver Services, select Request or Renew Disability Parking Certificate. If you have questions about the process, call 651-297-3377.
The prescription must include the disabled persons name, the doctors original signature, and a statement if the disability is temporary or permanent. Prepare the fee. There is a fee of $5 for a placard for a temporary disability. There is no fee for a permanent placard or for disabled license plates.
Red Disabled Parking Placards can be issued to Texas residents with a temporary disability or non-residents with a permanent disability seeking medical treatment in Texas. Red Disabled Parking Placards are valid for six months from the date of issuance or until the end of the disability, whichever comes first.
To get a substitute placard: Complete and sign an Application for Replacement Plates, Stickers, Documents (REG 156). Surrender the placard (if it is damaged). Pay the substitute placard fee (temporary placards only; DMV does not charge a fee to replace permanent and travel placards).
