The Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI) is a California program that provides cash assistance to low-income seniors and persons with disabilities who are not eligible for federal SSI due to their immigration status. Immigrants who are receiving SSI benefits are not eligible for CAPI.
CAPI facilitates logic checks, skip patterns, and validations during the interview. This makes the survey more efficient and helps assure higher quality data. It also saves later efforts on data cleaning and data entry. CAPI is a good tool to monitor enumerators.

Seniors (65 years or older), and persons with disabilities who are permanently residing in the U.S. under color of law (PRUCOL). To be eligible for CAPI, immigrants must also meet the federal SSI income and resource rules.
If your countable income is less than $1,182.94, then you can get CAPI, and the difference between the two amounts is your benefit amount. For example, if you qualify for a maximum of $1,182.94 from CAPI and you have $300 of countable income, youll get a $882.94 benefit.
You must provide proof of age, identity, immigration/non-citizen status, SSI ineligibility or pending SSI application status, proof of residency, proof of income, property/resources, and affidavits of support (if applicable).

How long should it take to process my application? All CAPI applications must be processed as soon as possible but no later than thirty (30) calendar days from the date the application was filed. The County must notify the applicant if eligible or not, no later than 30 calendar days from the date of application.
